Emily LaCerte
Attorney
Emily LaCerte’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation, with an emphasis on toxic tort and environmental cases.
Before entering private practice, Emily served for four years as a term law clerk to the Honorable Shelly Dick, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. From there, she joined Baron & Budd, P.C., litigating toxic tort cases as part of a multi-state team that routinely obtained multimillion-dollar recovery for clients. Emily earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wesleyan University, where she received the Herbert Lee Connelly Prize for excellence in nonfiction writing. Prior to pursuing a career in the law, Emily worked in the United States Senate and as an editor and writer for various international companies.
Emily is a Board Member at Large of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of Louisiana and all state courts in Louisiana. She is a frequent volunteer at mock trial events and has served as a Legal Research & Writing Instructor in the LSU Paralegal Studies Program. Emily and her husband David are raising four children in Baton Rouge.
