Donald T. Carmouche

Donald T. Carmouche is a co-founder of Talbot, Carmouche & Marcello. He is a native of Napoleonville, Louisiana and was raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Don attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. He then received his law degree in 1966 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Don served as District Attorney for the 23rd Judicial District (1985-1990). As District Attorney, he tried felony jury trials, including death penalty cases, and represented all public bodies in the 23rd JDC (Ascension, Assumption, and St. James Parishes), including school boards, police juries, and various special districts.
Don’s five decades of diverse legal experience enable him to be a strong advocate for his clients. He has extensive experience in oilfield and coastal regulatory matters and has spent the last 30 years focused exclusively on claims for remediation of hazardous chemicals, including radiation, caused by damage to private and public property as a result of oilfield exploration and production activities. He is admitted to the Louisiana State Bar and the Texas State Bar, and he is a member of the Louisiana State and Baton Rouge Bar Associations. He also served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association and as vice-president of the Louisiana District Attorney’s Association.
Throughout his career, Don has served as a frequent guest lecturer at continuing legal education programs sponsored by the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association. Recently, he lectured at the Louisiana Mineral Law Institute and the Shreveport Bar Association concerning environmental issues pertinent to Legacy litigation. Don is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubble.
He is still active in law practice at the age of 84 and and spends time with his three sons and his 10 wonderful grandchildren.
